A steady climb over mostly firm ground, passing a small stone circle
and a lake rich in folklore. In the upper section climbing to the
summit of Fan Brycheiniog there has been significant work done to
restore the eroded footpath.

There is some free car parking along the verge
of the Tararn-y-Garreg to Trecastle mountain road.
Park close to where you can see a standing stone
on the left as you drive
up beside the headwaters of the River Tawe.
Just down from the parking space
look for an easy step-across the river Note:
in times of flood
this walk is perhaps best avoided.

After crossing the river ascend the western bank and, as the slope
eases, you should see in front of you the prominent standing stone
which lies on the northern side of Cerrig Duon Stone Circle.
